This is an excellent all-round automobile. The ride is smooth and the CVT transmission is seamless at all speeds and and rpms. There is plenty of power in the 6 cylinder engine and the handling is excellent with the 4WD. The interior is well designed and very comfortable. My wife loves the large windows and wonderful view from the passenger side of the front seat. The leg room in the back seat is great. And the trunk is huge.

I have had a great experience with this car. I got it new as a company car and bought it from the company when I left other than the recall on the brakes in the first year there has been no issues with this car. I live in the northeast and the car is great in the snow. (traction control) on the 2 wheel drive model has never left me stranded or feeling insecure on snowy or icy roads. I love this car! It has 80,000 miles on it and will run for another 100,000.

  • Best Sedan For The $$ - 2006 Ford Five Hundred

Bought my 06 SEL FWD used for $5000 recently and can tell you its the absolute BEST BUY Ive ever made for a used vehicle. I had the 07 Limited AWD for a couple of years (also used) and in retrospect probably should not have sold it. It was great in the (Michigan) winters, got super mileage for a big car (26+ highway), seated 5 adults comfortably and the only issue I had was with the rear brakes wearing out after only 15K miles. This recent 2006 purchase reminds me of the great qualities that Ford built into these vehicles and had they been "faster" and perhaps a bit cheaper (than the $30K price tag for the Limited AWD), theyd probably still be around.

  • Best In Class - 2006 Ford Five Hundred

I spent several weeks trying to find the best car in my price range. I am the type of person who has to be sure I am satisfied before I spend a large amount of money. I test drove and researched every other car in this class and price range. Safety was a big concern and there is nothing better in the same class. It beat the Camry, Accord, etc. The Five Hundred was designed by Volvos top structural and safety engineers and the crash test results reflect it. The car has adequate power and rides like a luxury car. I have seen some reviews that said this car would appeal more to the older crowd. I am 33 and two other people bought a Five Hundred while I was there and they were even younger.

  • Many problems.. - 2006 Ford Five Hundred

I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. Power steering going out, told the rack n pinion need to be replaced. Brakes are a major problem with this vehicle.. had them replaced twice so far, along with rotos, only 80,000 miles. First set of brakes under 15k miles. Now, my fuel pump went out.. only had this car 3 years! Ford will not stand up to their product! Grinding and cracking noises in steering.

  • Love my Ford 500 SEL AWD - 2006 Ford Five Hundred

I have been looking at this car since it has been in production. I think it is one of the best looking cars on the market, in its class. I am 6’-1.” When I went to the dealer I wore my Penn State hat and still had some head room. We have three children and my wife and I were concerned with space and safety. This vehicle has both! We purchased our 500 with the safety package which has dual air bags and a side air curtain. As for the space, I am able to keep the seat completely back and my boys still have plenty of room. I can’t believe this car is not selling like hot cakes. The 500 has been getting some great reviews.

  • Comfort - 2006 Ford Five Hundred

The car isnt designed for tall people to drive. Cant tilt the steering wheel to see fuel, temp. gauges. Not good tilt system. Not enough leg room. When seat is all the way back arms are extended so far youre tired when you drive very long. The car wanders. Trunk is too heavy, hard to open. Hood has prop. Trunk light isnt located good and times off to soon.
